Irene Mwambene, Senior Associate

Irene is a Senior Associate in the Firm's Labour, Immigration, and Regulatory Practice, with particular focus on employment law, workforce compliance, immigration advisory, and the legal and regulatory framework governing non-governmental and non-profit organisations in Tanzania.

Irene advises local and international clients on a wide range of labour and employment matters, including employment contracts, workplace policies, disciplinary and termination processes, collective labour issues, and compliance with Tanzanian labour legislation. In the immigration sphere, Irene regularly assists corporate clients, expatriates, and NGOs with work permits, residence permits, compliance audits, and engagement with the Ministry of Labour and the Immigration Department.

Irene also has significant experience advising non-governmental organisations, development partners, and social enterprises on regulatory compliance, registration, governance, operational licensing, and ongoing reporting obligations, as well as environmental and social compliance matters applicable to projects and institutional operations.

Irene is recognised for a practical, solutions-oriented approach and regularly works with government authorities and regulators to support clients in navigating complex regulatory environments. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and subordinate courts thereto with over 10 years of post qualification experience.
